We’re looking for a highly motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our growing team at Horizon. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about Big Data, software development, and modern data platforms, and who want to grow their careers in a challenging environment. Experience in machine learning is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Big Data pipelines using technologies such as ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka

Write clean, maintainable code in Python, Java, or Scala

Integrate diverse data sources across databases and data lakes

Support machine learning workflows, including data preparation, feature engineering, and model evaluation

Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and cross-functional teams

Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to improve scalability and efficiency

Maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, system architecture, and code

Required Qualifications

1–2 years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Development

Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala

Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and data processing tools

Understanding of Git and the software development lifecycle

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn

Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Familiarity with Agile methodologies
