Position: Database Administrator (MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DB2)– L2
Location: Islamabad
Job Summary:
The Senior/L2 DBA (MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DB2) is responsible for independently managing and supporting open-source and enterprise databases in production and non-production environments. The role requires hands-on experience in administering, optimizing, and securing MySQL clusters, MongoDB replica sets, PostgreSQL databases, and DB2 HADR systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain MySQL (InnoDB Cluster, Replica Set, NDB), MongoDB, DB2 HADR, and PostgreSQL environments.
Perform backup, restore, replication setup, and configuration management.
Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize queries, indexes, and server parameters.
Implement and validate high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) setups.
Automate recurring tasks using shell scripts or Python.
Troubleshoot incidents independently and contribute to root cause analysis.
Participate in patching, version upgrades, and performance baseline.
Generate monthly health checks, capacity, and SLA compliance reports.
Candidate Education/Experience/Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent.
Experience: 3–5 years
Databases: MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DB2
Role Type: Mid-Level / Independent Contributor
Required Skills:
Proficiency in MySQL 8.x cluster architecture, replication, backup & recovery.
Solid understanding of MongoDB 6.x ReplicaSet operations and performance tuning.
Experience in PostgreSQL database optimization and backup strategies.
Hands-on experience in DB2 HADR setup and failover.
Ability to write and debug shell scripts for automation.
Preferred Tools & Technologies:
Linux administration and scripting (bash, awk, cron).
Monitoring tools like Prometheus/Grafana, Percona Toolkit, or equivalent
Git, Jira, and standard incident/change management systems.
Soft Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to manage tasks independently and work under pressure.
Effective communication with cross-functional teams.
Focus on documentation and process improvement.
