-Position Summary
The Accounting Training Specialist primarily serves as a back up and training resource for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Inventory Accounting, Cash & Revenue Accounting, Prepaids, Right-of-Use (ROU) Assets & Lease Accounting and reports to the controller.
The role is accountable for ensuring consistent knowledge transfer, accelerating onboarding, maintaining process documentation, and reducing the training burden on operational teams. In addition, the specialist will act as a backup resource capable of performing day-to-day responsibilities across supported functions during employee absences, leaves, or turnover periods to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary back up for operations accounting lead and fill the gap while lead position is filled.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, and process documentation.
• Identify gaps and prepare onboarding, and cross-training programs for current and new team members.
• Partner with leads/Managers, and controller to identify training needs and address knowledge gaps.
• Work with leads to understand and document day-to-day processes and accounts reconciliations related to Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Inventory Accounting, Cash and Revenue Accounting, Prepaid, Right-of-Use (ROU) Assets and Lease Accounting.
• Support business continuity by performing day-to-day accounting or reporting responsibilities during employee absences, vacations, leaves, or turnover periods.
• Be a right hand to the controller for compliance related to quarter end review, interim audit and annual audit.
• Identify opportunities to improve training effectiveness, process efficiency, and knowledge retention.
• Maintain training records and track training completion and competency levels.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and/or financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Accounting, Cash & Revenue Accounting, Prepaids, Lease Accounting (IFRS 16)
• Experience developing and delivering training programs.
• Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, and reporting tools.

Experience working closely with business teams and translating business problems into data-driven solutions.
