Switch Communications is Hiring Backend Development Specialist (Java)

📍Location: Islamabad | Onsite

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:

● Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices using NestJS / Node.js and related technologies.

● Write clean, maintainable code following Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, and team coding standards.

● Collaborate closely with frontend, mobile, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver features efficiently within Agile / Scrum sprints.

● Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve code quality and team knowledge.

● Expertise in Java (8/11/17+) and Spring Boot, including Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, and enterprise application development.

● Optimize backend performance through caching strategies, efficient query design, and API tuning.

● Contribute to database design and maintenance — both relational (PostgreSQL / MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB / Redis).

● Help design and document REST / GraphQL APIs, ensuring consistency, versioning, and backward compatibility.

● Work with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and containerized environments (Docker).

● Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and cloud platform APIs under senior guidance.

● Use monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) to help maintain system uptime and reliability.

● Proactively surface technical blockers, suggest improvements, and stay current with backend tooling and trends.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

● 2–4 years of professional backend development experience.

● Hands-on experience with NestJS, Node.js, or a comparable backend framework (Java Spring Boot experience is a plus).

● Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles, microservices, and distributed systems basics.

● Working knowledge of Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, and common software design patterns.

● Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and basic query optimisation; exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) is a plus.

● Familiarity with asynchronous processing and messaging basics (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).

● Experience with authentication / authorisation (JWT, OAuth 2.0, Spring Security or equivalent).

● Proficiency with Git, code review workflows, and build tools (npm, Gradle, or Maven).

● Basic experience with containerisation (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

● Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps).

● Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger / OpenAPI and Postman.

● Understanding of secure coding practices and OWASP Top 10 recommendations.

● Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
