Backend Development Executive (Java)

Switch Communications is looking for a Backend Development Executive (Java)

📍 Location: Islamabad | Onsite

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:

 • Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Java (Spring Boot) for provisioning, charging, and subscriber-management systems. 

 • Develop and optimize reporting pipelines and scheduled jobs that aggregate and transform data from large MySQL/MariaDB tables (hundreds of millions of rows). 

 • Write and maintain Python scripts for data extraction, transformation, ad-hoc analysis, and automation of recurring reporting tasks. 

 • Identify and resolve query performance issues, non-sargable queries, missing indexes, redundant schemas, across reporting databases. 

 • Work with structured (MySQL/MariaDB) and semi-structured data sources and contribute to schema consolidation and cleanup efforts. 

 • Integrate backend services with Kafka, Redis, and internal/external APIs as needed.

 • Collaborate with DevOps, frontend, and data teams to ship reliable, well-tested features, and document system behavior, data flows, and known issues clearly for handover and cross-team visibility.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

 • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 

 • 0–2 years of hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot (internships and significant academic/personal projects count). 

 • Working proficiency in Python for scripting, data processing, or automation (e.g., Pandas, basic ETL workflows). 

 • Solid understanding of SQL joins, indexing, query optimization and experience working with relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL). 

 • Basic understanding of REST API design and backend architecture patterns. 

 • Familiarity with Git and standard version-control workflows. Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large, sometimes messy, real-world datasets.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 / 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲

 • Exposure to Kafka, Redis, or other messaging/caching systems. 

 • Experience with reporting tools or libraries (e.g., Apache POI, openpyxl, Power BI, or similar). 

 • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts or ETL pipeline design. 

 • Prior exposure to telecom, fintech, or other high-volume transactional domains. 

 • Basic knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
